Energy Works Michigan is a non-profit technical resource building foundational capacities for a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future in Michigan.


Energy Works Michigan will create a new future for the state of Michigan, where every student from preschool through the 12th grade in all 5,000 public schools, charter academies, and private schools will learn and develop the skills necessary to make responsible decisions for the rest of their lives. Through innovative educational programs and installations at school facilities of proven energy efficiency technologies and practical renewable energy systems, Energy Works Michigan will lead schools to a sustainable, net-zero energy, and carbon neutral future.

Energy Works Michigan dedicates itself to an energy-intelligent work environment with a just, equitable and collaborative organization that supports each of its staff members in her/his commitment to excellence by:
  1. Implementing exemplary energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in public, charter and private schools, that are carried out with respect for the natural environment and through sustainable economic practices;
  2. Encouraging mastery in learning about responsible energy use and management by each of the estimated 2,000,000 K-12 school students and 120,000 teachers in Michigan, regardless of race, creed or economic status.
