What kind of film? There are no restrictions on the art form of your film. Film approach could be a real story (unscripted), public service announcement (scripted), commercial, documentary, project, interview, poetry, etc. Film methods may be live action, animation, claymation, puppet show, still photography or any combination, or other ideas.
You are encouraged to explore, interpret, and then commit to film your personal ideas about sustainability, what it means to you and your community and how you think it can be achieved.
Finding inspiration! Do you know what “green” means in the context of sustainability?
Problems with the environment and the global economy are often discussed in the media and every so often the term green is also mentioned - but how many people really understand exactly what green means? After all it is a big word with a broad meaning that might at first seem difficult to define.
But nothing's that hard once you put your mind to it! All it takes to make a short film is a good idea.
Have a brainstorm about the theme of Green.
- What does it means to you personally?
- To the direct world around you?
- To your family?
- Your community?
- Your school?
- Have you got any ideas about the best ways to achieve it?
- What are the solutions?
- Why is it so important?
- What's the big deal?
These questions are just thought provokers that might help you to decide what you want to say about sustainability- but remember, what you put in your film is totally up to you.
Why not brainstorm the word sustainability with your friends or family.
The aim is to come up with an idea that will help you create a fantastic film and win the top prizes. You just need to tell a story that will excite the judges and inspire your cast and crew.
Easy right?!
